This site was established to display the original works of Fiona Andrews. By clicking onto the icon of current paintings you can view paintings that are currently available for purchase and can read their specifications. Fiona covers a wide range of themes from contemporary to historical contexts and approaches and works in traditional oils and acrylics. She recommenced painting in 2009 and had early success with a 6 month exhibition of selected works at the Gold Museum- Sovereign Hill,  Ballarat. This was closely followed by a request to feature two of her portraits of Dame Nellie Melba in the foyer of Her Majesties Theatre, Ballarat , during their Heritage Weekend, 2009.  Both portraits remained on display for some months in this venue. Kryal Castle in Ballarat holds one of her works which is painted to a medieval theme and Kryal Castle asked Fiona to sell further paintings at their 2009 Medeival Festival. She also exhibited her work at Gallery On Sturt Street with a theme of Sporting Culture and Ballarat. This featured people enjoying cycling, running and other sports located in the Ballarat community.
In 2010 one of her paintings was featured in the VIP Reception for the Scody Road Cycling Championship in Ballarat at the request of the City of Ballarat Council. This coincided with a successful exhibition on Sporting Culture which was opened by Damien Turner who had won King of the Mountain in the Scody Road Cycling Championships.  She entered a full sized portrait of Steve Monaghetti in the 2010 Archibald Prize. She followed this with an exhibition opened by Steve Monaghetti celebrating the return of water to Lake Wendouree, Ballarat. She completed a portrait of Lester Ellis which she entered in the 2011 Archibald Prize. She has completed many private commissions, some portraits and other paintings on requested themes. Her painting 'The Cricketer' is on permanent display at the City Oval Hotel Ballarat. She currently has works for purchase at Racers (Lake Wendouree) and works can be ordered from this site by contacting Fiona directly through the "Contact Fiona" link. |
